If a role playing game were to exist centered around Marianne's writing, what would people here like to see in it?
Would you see it as focusing on group or single play?
What would you see as the focus of campaigns? Would the players just be a part of the established book storyline or should they be more free to diverge?
Should it be set before the events in the book as a prequel?

Personally, I like role playing games with lots of freedom... where you can build whatever sort of campaigns and characters that you want within the rules of the world, whether that be something that follows the canon storyline or something totally different set in that world. *would want to play as a Pet* Also, I'm not quite finished Crash yet, but I think both post- and pre-book scenarios have potential to be good. So perhaps have different rules etc that are applied depending on the time when it's set so that either can be used.

Why do you want to play as a pet? This is one area I was thinking of leaving out as it is rather hard to run.
I like free form choices as well, but some don't so I think you need to have the option of free form or modular.

Hmmmmm... I wouldn't like to see anything too complicated. I'm a kinda-newbie to RPGs (I've only played Final Fantasy and .hack, really) and all the Dungeons-And-Dragons-type stuff goes over my head. So, selfishly I'll say make it simple! Ish. But not THAT simple. Argh, I don't know what I mean!
I'd like to play as Parrish, but to choose her alliances and have different endings to the game (like, if she chose to side with Daac, or with the journos, or kept away from everyone and tried to ignore the Eskaalim, what would happen?) But maybe that'd be a nightmare to design.

LOL, that does sound hard Chir...Dungeons and Dragons type stuff is okay, but maybe that's cause I have a brother who taught me the basics I think simple is good, and free range is what I find easier.

I reckon there should be elements of all kinds of games in there. Like when Parrish takes one of Teece's bikes over the wasteland? It should be a kind of raching stage where you can't successfully complete it unless you're in first place, otherwise the train whacks you dead, or something.
I can't stop thinking of ideas for this bloody game! If it doesn't get made I'll die of disappointment!

Well, now I have permission... Hmm... How about a Devil-Within-Tekken-5-minigame type section, where the more enemies you beat the crap out of, the more energy goes into an adrenaline bar at the top of the screen. and when it's fully charged you can do one of the super-cool fry-all-enemies-with-Eskaalim-power attacks?

OK, the reason I was asking this question is that, if everything works out (and there are still a lot of details to be nailed down) we should have Nylon Angel published as a game and launched in April in Brisbane. I think you can guess why we want to do it there. I have not been on-line for some time as we (my wife and I) are trying to set up a new games company.
We have basically written the rules, and done quite a bit of testing, but further playtesting (we have to describe it as 'focus groups' to bankers) is on hold until we get our first product launched in October. This will be a set of miniatures rules for fantasy army scale battles (not skirmish play, but with hundreds of figures on the table). Nylon Angel would have been our first game, but we thought a certain person might be the one who would want to launch it.
It was interesting to read what people had written here and I think you will be pleased (although we had not been planing on anyone actually playing any of the main characters - I will have to think about that. We have made up a new games system that is as simple as I can keep it and still be realistic. For instance, as well as being able to roll up characters (as is normal with RPG) we will have a whole raft of ready-rolled ones so that people can just pick one up and (if they have read the books) be able to fit right in.
Please keep commenting. If there is anyone out there who is an experienced GM, and would like to playtest a set of the rules later (after we have all the copyright issues sorted out), please let us know (and yes Cass, we will let you know when we start testing again).

Ooh, intriguing... This better not be some only-compatible-with-Aussie-machines thing if it comes out. *warning glare*

OK, have a look at this: www.progressquest.com Now, IMVHO, they're making a valid point. Too many RPGs start you off fighting bunnies, and as you move onto cats and then deer etc: you gradually claw from being a wimp to a world crushing warrior by painfully dragging yourself up the foodchain - in a game time of about a fortnight. (Huh!? How?) And to be honest, it'd be much less hassle if they just did what this does - play it all in the background so ya don't have to waste your own time! Parrish started the trilogy as a deadly chick, and her attitude and responsibilities changed more than her abilities. EXCEPT! ... For the escalim. If you were to build in a high level of freedom then overuse of this could end up with an evil Parrish who rules the tert for her greedy self!!

I think if there was to be a Parrish game, it should take on the free form fighting from prince of persia, because it wouldn't be Parrish without some ass whooping. But I like the idea of making choices kinda like freelancer (never played the game but I know it has choices), oh and its gotta have some nice movie clips and stuff off the eskalim to show it in the hallucinations and things.
