Role Playing? Game? Ha ha ha! Now we're talking! Nylon Angel: The Video Game You know who would do a great game adaption? Either one of these two companies: Ion Storm & Eidos: Anybody played a game called Deus Ex? www.deusex.com/ The game world is composed of Bio-modificated(New Word?) Agents, Government Conspiracies, and a total free roaming environment. You communicate with other people, your choices deciding your fate or theirs. The first one was HUGE...the second, not so much. However, I can't remember at the moment but one of the companies went bankrupted. But, they formed into another company so if the thought through them.. Tigon Studios & Starbreeze Studios: The Companies that brought Chronicles of Riddick:Escape to Butcher Bay to life. They turned that world into a gritty, no-hold barred arena of life, death, and a cig. They knew how to place the enemies in areas that seemed logical, the puzzle elements were natural to the environment the player was in, and many ways to enter an area(Stealthy, Forcibly? Mixture of both?) The game was short, however, it played like a movie...in the words of the great Riddick, "Beautiful." www.tigonstudios.comFirst-Person Shooter/Fighter? Third-Person Action/Adventure? I see it as both. A First-Person/Third-Person, Action/Adventure/RPG. Sounds technical though right? Well, not quite. It would work like this and this would be if the game was based on Nylon Angel: When you have a weapon(Pistol, Machine Gun, Rocket Launcher, etc.) you go to first person mode. When you have any of Parrish's bladed weapons(Or her Female Fists of Fury ) The player goes third-person, to see her moves in full glory. To go "Bullet-Time" like in the Matrix, would almost be cliche'd in a game like this, however, done just right...like going slo-mo and just watch Parrish pummel a whole bunch of soldiers with her skills...man, it'd be awesome... I don't know if including purchasable items for sale to alter Parrish's abilities would be 'story' applicable. Like added Modifications so she can be faster, stronger, able to see through walls, sniff out enemies from afar... things like that. ...I think that's all I can think of for now.

DEATH TO EIDOS! *growl* If they publish it I won't buy it... I'm boycotting them from now on because of how they treated Core Design. *jumps off soapbox again and stores it away for future unprovoked use*
Sorry. Back to the actual subject at hand... I like the idea of her being able sniff out the enemies. And I vote for third-person!

Yeah, Eidos is not to fair with gameplay and it was Ion Storm who broke off the gaming front.
There is always hope though.
Source Engine anyone? ;D
Use the Source Engine to put Nylon Angel as a Mod. Single Player or Multi-Player combat. Oh yeah...
However, a professional gaming company can make it happen. Just make sure you test it as much as possible.
Too many games with great ideas go out, without being tested, and they end up being laggy, buggy, and just not playable.

Hi JM, thanks for your ideas. Now we just need someone to run with them? I'll e-mail Cary tonight and tell him to look in on what you've said. MDP

;D No problemo. Video Games and I are like Legos and a Little Kid with Too Much Imagination.
Sierra makes good games. Though they are almost always First-Person Shooters, Sierra Studio turn games into a Cinematic experience, if that is the look your going with the game. Epic Games and Digital Extremes are the two companies that created the best Multiplayer game around: Unreal Tournament 2004. In the Single Player portion, they are ok. However, when it comes to Multiplayer...
...'Beautiful'...
Just make sure you stay away from Atari, Shiney Entertainment, and EA Games. Atari because it is not the gaming company it was in the past, Shiney Entertainment for their lame Enter the Matrix, and EA Games because they have their hold in everything nowadays.

What about Ubisoft? They bought prince of persia out fabulously, plus they're like one of the only companies I really know lol. Oh and I go for third person as I hate first person, but thats just me lol. And also I don't think first person would suit a combat kinda game if you get my meaning. First person i for more shoot em up games, which I aint so found off so please don't make nylon angel into a shoot em up!!

Sorry to take a while getting back on the replies. For some strange reason, working on the game takes a lot of my time. At present I work 12-15 hours each day.
Here is some advance information on the way Nylon Angel will run as a game. Note that Marianne has not seen the current version of the rules and may ask us to make some changes to accord with her vision.
At this stage it is only a role-playing game intended for pen and paper play. THis will change (eventually) as we make it a 24-hour mutual use game for online play. This will not occur for a couple of years. We figure that this is a game that is ideally suited to this conversion.
As a role playing game there will not be player 'classes' as such, although a person who specialises as a shaman will pretty much use up most of their skill points in doing this. People will chosse what skills they want to have and whether they want to be mainly a combat-oriented type or a shaman or a more general and well-rounded character. Note that, by my reading, Parrish is _not_ a well-rounded person and appears to be quite conscious of this.
What you encounter will depend on the player or the group (note that the referee could run either or both). They could concentrate on taking over their area of the Tert or they may aim at revolution and taking over Australia completely from the banks and the media.
For those who get bored with rolling up characters (and our research shows that this is a vast number of potential players), we will be including a large number of pre-rolled characters so that you just need to grab one that looks cool to you to play. You then transfer it to a character sheet and set of.
Whether you meet the main (or even the trivial) characters from the books is up to your referee. Remember that they all have their own agenda and you may end up at cross purposes to this (ie dead).
We have worked hard to make the combat rules in the game both realistic and playable. I have used many of the weapons that appear in the rules, and have a fair idea on how they work. I have also spent a lot of time with persons who have used many of these items in actual combat. They have passed the rules as being (within the restrictions imposed by keeping them playable) realistic. What this means is that you cannot take many shots and keep going and that, conversely, most shots will miss. When we bring on the computer version we should be able to keep the same rules so that a person used to playing the RPG (role playing game, not rocket propelled grenade) will be able to move straight over to the computer.
A trial play of some of the rules will be unveiled at the Anime convention coming up in Hobart in a couple of weeks and the rules should be printed for Easter release. It is possible that a German language version will be also ready at the same time (or at least soon after). I have no indications of cost at present.
Life is not Paradise in Australia's Tert - live it and find out.

Sorry, yes it will be in English as the default. But we are also hoping to having a German language version very soon.
White Mice have already used Cass' artwork in our first product (and we are very happy with it) and now there are t-shirts and a game with her illos.
Sorry jerichomccoy, the testing is basically done by now. We are just finetuning a few points and are now up to the stage of edits and getting the referees book right and creating a lot of NPCs and pre-rolled characters (it sounds so easy when you put it like that). I spent the day cross-checking MIMS (a drug effects catalogue) to make sure that I had not made any major errors in those rules.
Sheyana, have even more fun. Become a referee and subvert others to reading the books.

Heh, aww shucks. Well, Pen-And-Paper I'm not used to(Cause it's hard enough to find players around that are interested in that sort of gig) however, when you get that computer game running...
Whoo-hoo. ;D
