So we know that Doll Feast and Parrish were in some kind of relationship once - yay! FINALLY, a bisexual heroine! - but I'm just wondering how it came about, whether you guys had any thoughts?

I think it's great, especially the way it wasn't any kind of issue at all... it just was. So often in books if a character happens to be gay or bi or whatever it's only because the author needed them to be for some integral plot point, or for some sort of sympathy value, or some other reason. You very rarely get it there just BECAUSE, which is obviously much more realistic because in real life people aren't that way inclined for a reason, they just ARE. In my opinion.

I was just wondering how Doll and Parrish actually met...

i dunno i always pictured like parrish as this rookie to Torleys and Doll taking her in and looking after her, or stuff like that, maybe cos parrish had so much repect for her her feeling grew or sumtin, i mean i cant imagine that Parrish lived a relatively suberbia lifestlye and then gets into this totally different world and falls flat on her feet?

This is true... sometimes you get so dependent on someone that it turns romantic... I bet that's how it happened, actually.

Don't hate me gang but a I got a different impression. It sort of felt as though Parrish felt a little used over the whole affair (pardon the pun).
She goes back later and askes for Doll's help with Stew and it feels as though Doll really doesn't think she owes Parrish any dues.
I'm not explaining myself well, lets try another tact. Lets look at the time line. Parrish leaves her overly "friendly" step father before she kills him and breaks her mothers heart. She heads to the Tert (though I can't remember how long it is before Doll finds her). Now spending a little time on the streets myself as a teenager I know its a hell of a lonely place. Leaves people easily preyed upon should they not watch their step.
I get the impression that Doll saw a young woman, bitter and angry about men because of her stepfather and turned the situation to her own devices.
I don't know about every one else, and I'm completely not ruling out the idea that I'm so wrong, but I got the distinct impression that doll was a middle aged predator who saw Parrish as nothing more than opportunity. When Parrish asked for help with Stew it looked as though it was all too much trouble for Doll and she'd rather the book was closed between them.
Bitter much?
Again I could be soo wrong.

Oh, I totally get where you're coming from with that. I was thinking maybe because Parrish was so mistreated by men and then ran into Doll, she transferred her affections to a woman because it was safer. Doll didn't feel the same way but slept with her for a while just for the hell of it, maybe got something out of it in the way of help around Plastique (it was Doll in Plastique, wasn't it? I think so...).
And when Parrish got wise to it she distanced herself.
Would write more but have to catch a bus - see you Saturday, gang!

maybe got something out of it That's the impression I got too, that it was a beneficial thing in perhaps several ways for the both of them. Also agree that's it's good it wasn't made a big deal of. Parrish had mainly put it behind her, and it was given the right amount of attention - as much as Parrish herself would have thought of it in my opinion. (Did that even make sense)

Yeah, lots of sense. I like that theory. *adopts it*
