I think that trailers for books pull in a different audience that might not otherwise look at a book. personally, I just read the blurb and sometimes get it out from the library to try first before buying a book, if I think it looks good I buy it. The only thing a trailer does is tell me that the book exists - and that's only if I happen to stumble across the trailer, so they're not that useful.
If I was joe bloggs who spends hours on YouTube, I might see the trailer and go 'oh, that looks good, I'll have to look out for it'. Not really sure.

I'm a very picky book buyer, first I judge by the quality of the cover art (which is what drew me to the Parrish novels) I think that cover art sets a starting point for imagination to work from. Then I read the blurb, if the blurb is crap I don't touch it. Luckly all Marianne's books have had both things done right so I just grabbed them and fell in love after a page.
