This is for discussion of the geography of the Parrishverse, the politics, the way of life in general. Question to start us off: Do you prefer Torley's, Tower Town, Muenoville, Fishertown, Viva, Mo-Vay...? I don't know why, but to me Teece's patch seems like home.

I also like the spot where Parrish was listening to the talking gnome near M'Grey... that gnome just made me laugh so much...

I can't talk for every one else but give me clean and rich. I'll take VivaCity any day, ah the joys of nano tech and clean food and water. So what if the world is run by the media machine, hell the cynics amongst us would say it is already the only difference being that for the moment governments still control the leash. Only the naive would say we have freedom and are in control of our lives now though. Paranoid? Much?

The Mad has a point what is control, okay maybe we have an amount of free speech but not completely, look at what happened to any American officials who spoke out about Iraq, they had to apologise and resign! freedom of speech, sure!

Welcome to the age we live in, where the supposed leader of the free world is nothing more than an uneducated cowbow from the religious right riding high on the his dadies money and fudging his way into power and then starting a war to stay there.
Bitter much?
I don't want to add paranoid and delusional to my repartoir but we as a society are spoon fed what information is deemed appropriate for us to know.
Sure theirs the odd scandle but lets look at the Iraq war (both of them) the media's information is carefully controlled by the PR men of the armed forces and if the media report outside their mandate then they are black banned and recieve no more media releases, and it goes for the entire network for periods up to a month not just the one reporter.
Whats next state controlled media like Pravda or maybe government representatives in media organisations like a politicle officer who clears all outgoing info.
But news worthy information is decided on based on shock value and maximum impact in this world of hardcore ratings. I've spoken to a newspaper editor and the argument is if they didn't want to watch it they'd turn over. Whats the point of turning over if everyone is so afraid in the media industry of being left behind that they all run the same story. What ever happened to programming based on good taste. No its based on best doller output. But no the old argument of if it wasn't popular it wouldn't sell and yet it always does.
Hence we have Terro's and journo's that don't so much report on the news, they make the news. Modern day gladiator blood sport thats what it boiled down to at the end in the Dis too.
There you go you got me on my soapbox again!

I think you just rendered us all speechless by your eloquence.
I'd reply properly but I am feeling a bit too under the weather... :s

I'd rather live in Viva for exactly the reasons Mad Max gave. At least you'd have good health and reasonable wealth. And safety.

Well, yeah... but you'd be a human automaton too. Though I s'pose half the time they don't even realise it...
Okay, gimme Viva! Wonder if they still have chocolate in Parrish's time?
