ok all you budding new writers this is the place to be in 2009:
It is my very great pleasure to be able to announce the list of tutors
for the 2009 Clarion South Writers Workshop.
Clarion South Writers Workshop is an intensive six week residential
workshop for writers preparing for a professional career in speculative
fiction. It has sometimes been described as "boot camp" for spec fic
writers and is the most intensive professional development program of
its kind in the southern hemisphere. Some of our own Vision-listers are
Clarion South alumni, including Cat Sparks, Michele Cashmore, Richard
Pitchforth and Karin Hannigan, and some our most acclaimed authors have
been tutors, including Kim Wilkins and Sean Williams. Clarion South runs
every two years in Brisbane.
The tutors for the next workshop, commencing January 2009, are:
Week 1: Sean Williams
Week 2: Marianne de Pierres
Week 3: Margo Lanagan
Week 4: Jack Dann
Week 5: Kelly Link & Gavin J. Grant
Week 6: Kelly Link & Gavin J. Grant
Bios available here: www.clarionsouth.org/bios.htm
We're very excited, in particular, to welcome back Sean Williams who
first taught Clarion South in 2005, and to welcome Brisbane-author
Marianne de Pierres to the workshop! They will both add tremendous value
to what's going to be a spectacular workshop for emerging writers to
learn and grow. And of course, Margo Lanagan and Jack Dann, both World
Fantasy Award winners and experienced Clarion tutors, will be sharing
their wisdom, encouragement and advice with participants.
Our two international tutors for the workshop - Kelly Link and Gavin J.
Grant - will be teaching together as an "anchor team", reading and
critiquing stories, offering feedback, and giving advice for the last
two weeks of the workshop. This is a concept that has worked really well
in the US and something we’re very excited about trying out with Clarion
South – especially with Kelly and Gavin as our inaugural anchor team.
You can find out all the details about Clarion South Writers Workshop at
the website - www.clarionsouth.org
Don't hesitate to get in touch with us at info AT clarionsouth.org if
you have any questions.
Applications for the next workshop will open on 1 February, 2008.
Best wishes,
Kate Eltham, Co-Director
