Yeah, my copy only just showed up. But at least I have it now. But I have a pretty constant headache due to the car accident I was in on Friday (which also has written off-my car, I think) and is meaning I can only read for short durations. But at least I know it's there.

Was out on work business when a man with a large Toyota 4x4 ute decided he didn't like my little car and would try and drive through it. He smashed the back the car and I am waiting to hear if it is an insurance write-off as it was pretty knackered.
I got off with nothing but a slight whiplash, back strain and a two-day headache. Bit of a shock, really.
I'm mostly okay now, but my car's in bits. His insurance is covering my hire car, though. Most of my colleagues were surprised to see me today, but it would normally take a bomb or zombie threat to stop me from turning up.
I GOT MY COPY OF MIRROR SPACE, THOUGH! (That was a mission!) ;D

Oh, how awful for you. Such a shock when you're smashed like that. I hope the whiplash settles down quickly. There are some crazy drivers on the road. I shudder to think about my kids driving (which they will be soon).
Take care of yourself. MDP

Oh, god - so sorry to hear this, Stellar! Feel better soon. I picked up my copy of Mirror Space yesterday (finally) and squealed - thank you so much for the acknowledgement, Marianne! It's made my year. ^_^ And you already know that I looooooove the book, too. Haven't read it in its published form yet, but will be doing so soon!

For some reason I am finding this one easier going that Chaos Space. I've kind of fallen in love with Jo Jo as a character now. For a long time, he irked me. The thought of Rast and Jo Jo in a love triangle with Mira caused a serious smirk on my face for a while. I haven't got that far yet, but I am wondering what the viability of any relationship with Mira is.
Also Carnage Farr is a fantastic villain. Mmm... Rho Junction whisky...

Carnage is such a great name. ;D I'm hoping for a Jo Jo/Rast bitchfight in book four. And Jo Jo to be reunited with Salacious II. And Wanton to get a new symbiote... poor lonely Wanton. Mira still needs to kick Trinder in the nuts (yeah, yeah, so he's getting better - nut-kicking still required). Galaxy conquest be damned, I'm thinkin' vendetta. ... Okay, okay, that would actually suck as a conclusion to the series. ;D But hey, at least now Marianne knows what to avoid!

Book 4: Mira gets sucked into a time-rip and meets up with Parrish and Tara then the universe implodes as it cannot stand that much coolness in one place.
Okay, needs work too. ;D

Wow, that would be crack-tastic! Also? 2010 is the year of IBIS FOR PRESIDENT! Okay, maybe not. But I still love him. ;D

Now that I'm on leave I'm catching up with the story. I love the Transhumanist arc the story is taking. Wanton is one of the most hard-t-deal-with characters I think I have come across. You simply cannot decide whether it is helpful or what level it is working for the Extro hierarchy. I am also enjoying the Thales-losing-his-innocence story as well.

When will this book be available in the US? I can't find any confirmed release dates. I'm tempted to buy the UK edition, but shipping costs more than the book

Airesyll,
I got mine off eBay from halcyonbooksuk for about $10-15 total including shipping. I received it about a week after ordering and have just finished reading it July 3.
After I finished reading it, I decided I was going to post here letting everyone know my success and what I thought. I will be brief about it as I have something rare to offer Marianne in addition to what I thought. Briefly, I've never read an author whose pace of action could keep up with say, Indiana Jones. Outstanding! Such a pace also proves to me there is at least one author out there with enough creativity to fuel such a novel, instead of doling it out over 15 novels.
And now on to the something rare to offer, a Mirror Space inspired aliens-take-over-the-world dream. My family owns a small 100 acre farm about 50 miles east of Austin. The land is shaped like a rectangle, the long ends oriented north/south. The farm is divided by forest/trees in the middle with a field taking up the southern third. A 1930's box house occupies the northwest corner of this field adjacent to the west side of the farm. During the summer breezes flow up from the south and east along the coast, often times you can see the billowing tops of thunder storms as they work their way inland to central and east Texas. At night you can see the glow of Houston a hundred miles to the east.
Now to the dream:
Aliens have invaded the world. We have fled Austin to the farm, thinking we stand a better chance out in the country. Fear permeates. Gradually refugees begin showing up on our property. We keep a close eye to the east and south. We begin to organize. As more people show up we begin the rudimentaries of a militia and start erecting huts and shacks as well as strategic fox holes. To the south we grimly watch as orange pop corn like clouds billow up to unimagined heights. We figure the aliens have begun bombarding the Gulf coast to wipe out oil refineries. These walls of fire work their way north towards us and we begin to see shock wave emanations along the horizon...
But even more people are showing up. The buildings are bigger, the military becomes more organized and we send out patrols to the east. I fear we have left the north unscouted and that a human threat may come from there. I scout north and my fears are proved true. I desperately flee back to warn our community and barely make it in with several of the enemy nearly on me.
A little while later our worst fears are realized as we begin bringing in bodies from the east to a medic station on the outskirts of our territory. The bodies are translucent in neon blues, greens and yellows. Some people in the medic station are alive, but with streaks of this transparent blue/green/yellow. A female doctor desperately injects these sick and dieing with fluids from the dead in a desperate attempt to counter act the infection. She says the inoculations only has a 1 in 3 success rate...
I don't remember anything else from that dream, but I think you can see elements of Sentients of Orion in this dream as well as the geography and climate of our farm land. So an extra special thanks to Marianne for having such a profound and unexpected influence on my dream!
Now I wonder where the other vivid dream about me going to China came from!
