Just finished reading Chaos Space, and it was just as strong as the first book. Thankfully not as emotionally distressing though
So, commentary in the better safe than sorry for the late bloomers like myself spoiler section.
That said, I need the next books.

Rast is still awesome. I love her persistent aggressive flirtation. It reminds me of gay anime and manga tops like Shizuma from Strawberry Panic, on the girlxgirl side, and Dee from FAKE, on the boyxboy side. I'm glad Mira told her what happened. While Rast was verbally matter of fact about it, in subtext she seemed appropriately pissed.
Jojo is getting better, but I'm not convinced he is a good romantic lead. His twitterpation with Mira is really kinda cute, but I get a cantankerous old man vibe from him that makes the idea of a pairing kinda creepy and gross.
Mira has more romantic admirers, which sets the stage for even more wonderful romantic hijinks. With the surrounding harem established, playing up the romantic side of the story (my favorite part) would be positively glorious. I'm still totally convinced Rast is the "happily ever after" character and the others are the icebergs in the ocean o' love. Rast even went to Jojo and said "begone iceberg," and I rolled around giggling.
I like Thales empassioned idealism, but he sure starting cheating on his wife awfully quick. This keeps him out of the good guy category.
Trin is accomplishing things, but he is still such a bastard. Like Roman Polanski, his accomplishments do not negate his evils.
The Extropists are very fascinating. From the descriptions of their abilities, it seems like they have separated their soul/consciousness from physical being. This would make them sort of like living ghosts. If this is the case, and they can just possess a new body when they need to, how do you kill one?
